When will we Stop Looking to the West and the UN for our Liberation?!
News:
“The United States on Thursday effectively stopped the United Nations from recognizing a Palestinian state by casting a veto in the Security Council to deny Palestinians full membership of the world body:” (Reuters, April 19, 2024).
Comment:
Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Robert Wood explained the US position in the following words: "The United States continues to strongly support a two-state solution. This vote does not reflect opposition to Palestinian statehood, but instead is an acknowledgment that it will only come from direct negotiations between the parties," which means withholding the right of an oppressed and expelled people until the usurper agrees!
Three days earlier the House of Representatives resolved (377 votes for, and only 44 votes against) that the slogan, ‘‘from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’’ is antisemitic and its use must be condemned. This denial of Palestinian nationhood and construing calls for Palestinian nationhood as being fundamentally antisemitic is occurring while the US supports the Zionist State in its genocidal destruction of all forms of Palestinian life in Gaza. Superficially, full recognition of Palestinian statehood might seem essential, as that would place legal obstacles in the path of the Zionist State in its murderous campaigns of barbarity in Gaza and the West Bank. However, any legal protections of statehood would offer little protection to those in the West Bank and Gaza, as the Zionist State is very precious to the capitalist states, led by the US, and it will make the so-called international laws in their own image and consider themselves above the law whenever they choose.
As for the slogan, ‘‘from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free:’’ it should be rejected by Muslims also, because it is a deceitful fantasy and further entrenches a vicious violation committed by the colonial powers upon the Muslim world after the destruction of the Ottoman Caliphate.
The fantasy is that of freedom. Where is the freedom in the Muslim world today? The US, or its mercenaries, such as the Zionist State, have free reign to hit out militarily at any part of the Muslim world that they wish. They shape the educational curricula, the laws, the economic policies and the governments of the Muslim countries that are much larger and richer in resources than the heavily colonized land that is dreamed of being a Palestinian State. If there ever could be such a thing, it would be held hostage to the whims of the colonialists just as the failed states that surround it are.
The statehood that is being talked about in the UN is that within the framework of the Sykes-Picot agreement between the colonialists to serve their own purposes and to repress the concept of the Khilafah (Caliphate). If Muslims do not stand up to demand liberation from colonialism in all the Muslim lands and the erasure of the borders drawn up between Muslims by the colonialists, then none neither Palestine nor any other Muslim land will be free.
