On Sunday, July 12, 2026, the first session of the Syrian People’s Assembly was held. The Assembly has 210 members, two-thirds of whom were elected indirectly through electoral bodies, and the remaining third was appointed by the head of the transitional phase, Ahmed al-Sharaa.
