Only Islam is capable of uniting Muslims and Expelling Colonialism, which is Leaving Libya Dragging Its Tail in disappointment

It is deeply saddening that Libya—the land of the early conquests and resistance to occupiers, the birthplace of distinguished scholars and a pioneer in the Noble Qur’an memorization, the land of Omar Al-Mukhtar and a million memorizers of the Qur’an—should remain an arena of conflict among colonial powers with its fuel being the sons of Muslims, their wealth, and their lands. Since the tyrant Muammar Gaddafi was effectively overthrown in late 2011, to this day, those vying for power have continued to throw the country into turmoil, serving the interests of the colonial powers.

The contenders for power continue to divide the country into East and West, with two governments; one headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and based in Tripoli, and the other headed by Osama Hamad and based in Benghazi, and with two armies; one in the West affiliated to what is called the Government of National Unity headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and another in the East of the country led by Haftar’s successor.

At best, they speak of meetings to reach agreement on forms of power-sharing and unity, as though the matter of the unity of the Muslims were a matter of disagreement and not something settled in our noble religion!

The chiefs of staff of the air force, navy, and air defense forces affiliated with the Government of National Unity in western Libya and the forces of eastern Libya agreed on a joint work program and executive plans to strengthen cooperation and integration in various military fields, instead of speaking about the unity of the country and ending the state of conflict over power! And to confirm the absurdity of the attempts and the loss of hope that those attempts and discussions will produce good for the country, the military institution is conducting the dialogue under the sponsorship of the United Nations Mission and within the framework of implementing the ceasefire agreement signed in Geneva in October 2020 between the parties to the Libyan conflict.

Indeed, the matter of the obligation of the unity of the Muslims is a matter settled by the Shariah, due to His (swt) saying: [وَاعْتَصِمُواْ بِحَبْلِ اللّهِ جَمِيعاً وَلاَ تَفَرَّقُواْ] “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.” [Aal-i-Imran:103]. And due to his (saw) saying: «مَنْ أَتَاكُمْ وَأَمْرُكُمْ جَمِيعٌ عَلَى رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَشُقَّ عَصَاكُمْ أَوْ يُفَرِّقَ جَمَاعَتَكُمْ فَاقْتُلُوهُ» “Whoever comes to you while your affair is united upon one man, wanting to split your unity or divide your community, then kill him.” And his (saw) saying: «إِذَا بُويِعَ لِخَلِيفَتَيْنِ فَاقْتُلُوا الْآخَرَ مِنْهُمَا» “If allegiance is given to two caliphs, then kill the latter of them.”

The only beneficiary from the disagreement, division, and fighting of the Muslims is the colonialist who wants the country to remain fragmented and divided among his men so that he can continue plundering the country’s wealth. For the conflict between the agents of Britain and the agents of America is what keeps the country in a cycle of division and bloodshed, and it is a conflict in which the only losers are the Muslims; therefore, the sincere people of Libya—the people of authority and decision among the tribes, and the righteous scholars—must take the leaders of the conflict and its parties by the hand in order to rescue the country from the claws of colonialism, and unite it under the Rayah (banner) of La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah, not the flag of colonialism.

For Islam, which was able to bring together Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj, is capable of bringing together the East and West in Libya, indeed, all the Muslims in the world.

Allah (swt) says: [وَاذْكُرُواْ نِعْمَتَ اللّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنتُمْ أَعْدَاء فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم بِنِعْمَتِهِ إِخْوَاناً وَكُنتُمْ عَلَىَ شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ فَأَنقَذَكُم مِّنْهَا كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ] “And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.” [Aal-i-Imran:103].

So come, let us make Libya a point of support for the second Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood, for in that lies the good of this world and the Hereafter.
