The Sudanese Government Aligns Itself with the US State Department's Designation of Those Fighting Alongside it as a Terrorist Organization!

Following the US State Department's statement on Monday, 9/3/2026, declaring the Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood a global terrorist organization, the statement asserted that the group, comprised of the Islamic Movement and its armed wing, the Al-Bara' bin Malik Brigade, uses excessive violence against civilians to obstruct efforts to resolve the conflict in Sudan and spreads its extremist Islamist ideology.

Washington stated in its decision that terrorist designations contribute to exposing and isolating entities and individuals, and denying them access to the US financial system and the resources they need to carry out attacks. Following this statement, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement: “The Government of Sudan has followed the decision of the United States government to designate the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan as a terrorist organization. While reaffirming its principled and consistent position condemning all forms of terrorism and violent extremism, without exception or selectivity, the Government of Sudan considers that all groups which violate international humanitarian law and commit acts of terrorism, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Sudan should be classified as terrorist organizations.” The statement added that Sudan considers all groups that violate international humanitarian law, commit terrorism, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Sudan to be terrorist groups. The Sudanese Foreign Ministry statement also called for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to be designated as a terrorist group.

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry's statement aligned with Washington's decision to designate those fighting alongside it against the Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist organization! The statement neither explicitly rejected nor explicitly accepted the American decision! Although it implicitly accepted it when it spoke of their principled and unwavering stance in condemning all forms of terrorism and violent extremism, without exception or selectivity.

Furthermore, by demanding that the Rapid Support Forces be designated as a terrorist organization, Sudan effectively grants the United States the right to do so.

We in Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah of Sudan, in light of America's decision and the Sudanese government's complicit stance, affirm the following:

First: There is no comprehensive and definitive definition of terrorism given by the colonial West, particularly America. This is intentional, because what America labels and classifies as terrorists is what it and its protégé, the Jewish entity, perpetrate throughout the world, especially in Muslim countries.

Second: What the Jewish entity, with America's assistance, has committed in Gaza—killing innocent civilians, demolishing homes on top of children, women, and the elderly, bombing hospitals and schools, and targeting all of the so-called civilian infrastructure—is terrorism itself!

Third: What America is carrying out in the world today is arrogance and the subjugation of nations by force. Indeed, its president, Trump, explicitly states, "the United States possesses the "strongest and most powerful, by far, military in the world, capable of easily prevailing in any situation." This arrogant man forgets that Allah, who created them, is far more powerful than they are, and that He (swt) destroyed those who were mightier than him when they became arrogant because of their strength. Allah (swt) says:

[فَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ]

“As for ’Ȃd, they acted arrogantly throughout the land with no right, boasting, “Who is superior to us in might?” Did they not see that Allah ˹Himself˺, Who created them, was far superior to them in might? Still they persisted in denying Our signs” [Fussilat: 15]. We are convinced that America, which the rulers of Sudan and others ask to carry out what they want from it, and which they fear and grovel before, is destined to disappear soon, Allah willing, at the hands of the state of truth and justice, the second Khilafah Rashida (Rightly Guided Caliphate) on the method of Prophethood, whose time has come, and this is its time, Allah willing.

[إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُ بَعِيداً * وَنَرَاهُ قَرِيباً] “They truly see this ˹Day˺ as impossible * but We see it as inevitable” [Al-Ma’arij: 6-7]
